Black History Month
Learning the Past. Empowering the Future.
Black history is American history, and it’s being made every day.
Throughout February, we’re highlighting YA books by Black authors that explore history, identity, creativity, resistance, joy, and the futures being imagined right now. These stories reflect lived experiences, challenge narratives, and celebrate the impact of Black voices across time and genres.
📚 Visit the Teen Room to explore fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, and poetry that center Black stories, this month and beyond.
Have a great idea for a program? Have a YA book suggestion?
Tell us about it!
**Teen programs are intended for middle and high school–aged youth, approximately ages 12–18. Age guidelines help ensure programs remain safe, appropriate, and enjoyable for all participants.
